Feminine (and male) Hygiene Products

Tampon alternatives

Incontinence problem solvers

Choosing your monthly feminine hygiene product is a very personal matter. To feel confident and comfortable is very important, but there are also considerations for your health and the environment.

For older women (and men)

Chums is a niche direct mail order company that supplies direct to the public, ranges of traditional clothing and other products for men and ladies aged 55 years or over including personal hygiene products for incontinence use and mobility aids for the disabled and elderly.

For younger women

Most tampons and sanitary towels on the market are made with a range of man-made materials, from polypropylene to plastics and bleached wood-pulp and who really wants to put this into her body because this could cause irritation, sensitive skin, lead to serious illness, and for the environment this is a nightmare too as the sewage industries has to deal with it too.

What we put into our bodies each day affects our well-being. Over the years, monthly feminine hygiene products and methods have been developed for our convenience and have usually not taken the best interest of the consumers health at heart.

Wood pulp used in sanitary pads is bleached with chlorine, which exposes women and the environment to dioxins. Research now suggests that dioxins has the ability to disrupt hormones within the body and could even be linked to certain types of cancer and endometriosis. Surfactants are used in conventional tampons to increase absorbency but they are also suspected of causing an unnecessary risk to health. Genetically modified cotton is also a cause of concern as each brand of tampon on the market today contains around 25% cotton fibre and conventional cotton can contain harmful residues of the chemical pesticides. Would you want to put any of the above ingredients into your body? or buy it for your daughters?
